At Pride Action North, we deeply value and strive to promote diversity, inclusivity, and acceptance. What we do

Pride Action North is here for anybody who needs our wide range of support and advocacy services. We provide a wide range of services to people within the LGBTQIA+ communities across the North of England, and beyond, ensuring a sense of belonging, acceptance and authenticity among all.

Nobody should go it alone and our team is passionate about supporting people regardless of sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity or age. By offering effective support services with high levels of compassion and understanding, we strive to promote diversity, inclusivity and acceptance of all people.

Meet the team

Angela (She/Her)

Charity Manager

Angela is the Charity Manager at PAN and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the charity. Angela’s background is in Education, where she’s held various roles in schools and within the VCSE sector and also performs Company Secretary duties on behalf of the board.

Dan (He/Him)

Link Worker

Dan is a Link Worker and works with LGBTQIA+ people on a one to one basis. He joined PAN from working with young people in Cowgate and is a qualified counsellor and holds counselling roles outside of Pride Action North.

Tina (She/Her)

LGBTQIA+ Link Worker

Tina supports LGBTQIA+ young people aged 11-25. She is a qualified Community and Youth Worker and has worked with children and young people across various informal settings including in Amble, and across the UK.

Alice (She/Her)

Education Co-ordinator

Alice upskills professionals across all sectors and particularly those working with young people. She started her career as an optician, owning her own business then moving on to be a professional actor. She then qualified as a teacher and taught in primary and secondary schools and following relocation to Cumbria worked in the national charities the National Trust and RSPB before coming to the North East.

Nicola (any/all)

Project Worker

Nicola supports LGBTQIA+ people on a one to one and group basis. They have previously worked with young people as a detached youth worker in Northumberland, and now supports various groups as part of our work across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. 

Scarlet (She/Her)

Operational Support Worker

Scarlet supports the day to day operations of Pride Action North, including our social media. She joined the team back in May 2021 and has held several roles within the charity. Outside of work she is a professional photographer and promoter. 

august (he/they)

Youth Worker

August is a Youth Worker and supports young people to access youth work activities. August’s current role supports our inclusive open access youth work in South East Northumberland through detached youth work.

Ian (He/Him)

Sessional Worker

Ian is a Sessional Worker supporting some of our youth groups on an evening. He is a qualified Community and Youth Worker and also works at Sunderland University supporting student wellbeing.

Lucy (She/Her)

Finance Officer

Lucy supports our finance function, she works for various charities and supports our accounting, payroll and ensures we are compliant.

Steven (He/Him)

Bid Writer

Steven supports the day to day fundraising of PAN. His role supports the continuous development of our services for LGBTQIA+ people.

Drew (He/Him)

Trustee

Drew is an academic expert and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). Drew holds the position of Senior Lecturer Sunderland University, where he contributes to the academic field and imparts knowledge to students. He also serves as the Programme Leader for MSc Inequality and Society. He has held various roles in the VCSE and is currently Chair of international human rights charity ReportOut and UKSAGE.

 

Gemma (She/Her)

Trustee

Gemma is an Operating Departmental Practitioner (ODP) in North East England for for a local Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Her background is in Community Development Work and she has delivered various projects for communities and in particular young people.

 

Erica (She/Her)

Trustee

Erica is a Customer Services Manager in North East England for International B Corp WeAre8 with stations in the UK, Australia and the USA. Her role includes social value and supporting the development of relationships with clients. Her background is in Community Development Work and she has also delivered various projects for communities.

Darren (he/him)

Chair

Darren is a Management Consultant in North East England and has held several roles in the VCSE over the past 15 years, supporting charities in various ways. He is a qualified Community and Youth Worker. He also sits on panels for Barnardos and National Fostering Group alongside being a Trustee of charity Controlling Chemsex and is a member of the Association of Chairs.

Chris (HE/Him)

Trustee

Chris is a senior leader for VetsNow in North West England an emergency
veterinary care provider, and is a resourcing specialist. His background is
in Retail, having held various senior roles across the sector. He is also
involved with supporting business development and income generation strategies for other charities within the adult care, and animal care sectors. 

Stephen (He/Him)

Trustee

Stephen is a local business owner in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear as director of Manor House Funeral Services. Stephen has experience in commissioning and is a key volunteer for other LGBTQIA+ charities Out North East and Curious Arts.

gABBY (SHE/HER)

Trustee

Gabby Legal Counsel for Centrica Energy in South England focusing on renewable energy opportunities, battery optimisation and carbon trading. She has lead LGBTQIA+ groups over the years as a volunteer, and is a key contributor to Centrica’s staff network based in London.

jORDAN (any/all)

Trustee

Jordan is a Senior Data Analyst for The Marlborough Group in North West Engalnd. They are also a Trustee of charity Beyond Reflections who support trans, non binary and gender questioning adults, their friends families and allies across England and Wales.

sarah (she/her)

Sessional Worker

Sarah is a Sessional Worker supporting some of our youth groups on evenings and weekends. Sarah works in a local school, and has worked within Community and Youth Work settings for many years, particularly supporting Transgender and Non-Binary people.
