Adult Support

Pride Action North supports adults across the North of England aged 18 and above who may be struggling with their gender identity or sexual identity.

How we can help you

A link worker from our wellbeing team will arrange to meet an individual within their local area or at our safe headquarters based in Ashington, Northumberland, to identify what support is needed, and what form this support will take. Individuals often seek somebody out of their immediate circle of friends and family who they feel they can talk to openly and who they will feel will accept them for who they are.

Our link worker will match a member of the team best suited to provide the right level of support. They will also help to find other suitable organisations which offer additional support. Our one-to-one support service is designed to act as an early intervention to improve  mental health and wellbeing later on in life.

An individual can either self refer or be referred to Pride Action North by others such as family members, social workers, GP’s or professionals in other organisations, such as community workers. However, we always need the individuals consent to to deliver this work.

Pride Action North has set up a range of groups and social gatherings to connect members of the LGBTQIA+ community. We understand how isolating it may be at times if nobody else in your local community is in the community and we love seeing new friends made and flourish while combating social isolation and loneliness.

As well as hosting groups and setting up new groups, we support local struggling groups. We can also support individuals in setting up their own if there isn’t one in their local area. Basically, if it doesn’t exist and you want it to, get in touch and we can see how we can help to make it happen. See our calendar for our upcoming events.

Pride Action North from time to time organises one off events including queer clothes swaps, club nights, Pride on the Road events or anything the community has asked us to organise. We aim to make these events as financially viable as possible and tour them around the region so everybody can access something (see calendar for upcoming events).

Our events are always great fun and provide an opportunity to meet new friends and connections. We are always looking at what event we can host next so get in touch with any ideas.

If you, or someone you know, thinks that you have been a victim of hate crime, you can speak to a member of the Pride Action North team and we can support you through the process.

If you wish to report this to the police, we can act as an advocate and provide the relevant support. We can also support individuals who have already reported the actions to the police. Complete our referral form by selecting the link at the bottom of this page to access support now.

If you, or someone you know, is currently or has been a victim of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence, we can support you with information about how to seek help, if it is safe to make contact with you.

If you need help from an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) or a Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) we can help refer you to professionals in other services for this specialist support.

You can also either call or email Pride Action North confidentially and we will make contact using a method of your own choosing.
